Hawaiʻi veterans will pay homage to a fiercely loyal supporter this weekend. Former Honolulu City Councilmember John Henry Felix has done a lot to give back to our community. He is active with the Alzheimer's Association and has long been a big supporter of scouting. He's also credited with providing support for soldiers, sailors, and airmen and women.

A special ceremony for him will take place at the Hawaiʻi State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneʻohe on Saturday. The Conversation sat down with Former Gov. John Waiheʻe and AMVETS Vice Commander Ron Lam to learn more.

The Saturday ceremony is invite-only but will also be broadcast on ʻŌlelo later. John Henry Felix is also the founding board chair of Hawaiʻi Public Radio. We recently named our newest transmitter in his honor.

This interview aired on The Conversation on Dec. 13, 2021. The Conversation airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on HPR-1.
