Wahiawa entrepreneur Joe Ganahl recently debuted the "Hot Bento" on national television when he was featured in the reality competition "America’s Big Deal." Ganahl appeared in episode three, vying for the opportunity to ink a deal with retail giants like QVC, Home Shopping Network, Lowe’s and Macy’s.

Although he didn’t score a contract, Ganahl still considers his appearance a win.

The Conversation sat down with Ganahl after he returned home from New Jersey where the competition was held. His creation, the Hot Bento, is a portable warming dish that can heat food from 145 to 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

"America’s Big Deal" airs Thursday evenings on the USA Network. This interview aired on The Conversation on Nov. 15, 2021.
