State health officials reported another 123 new cases of COVID-19 -- the third day in a row of 100-plus infections. All are on Oahu except four in Maui County. Yesterday, Hawaii set a record with 124 cases. That overtook Wednesday's record of 109 new cases.

The Hawai’i Health Department reported 20 new cases today. Seventeen cases are on Oahu, most tied to identified cases or clusters, and three cases are on the Big Island. The state is continuing community outreach and testing connected to the new cases.

After two and a half months, the state of Hawaiʻi has lifted its mandatory interisland quarantine requirement. That means residents are once again free to travel to other islands.

Starting today, residents of Hawaii will be able to travel between islands without a mandatory 14-day quarantine. But when it comes to longer-distance travel, the timeline is much less certain.

Where we stand

Hawaii recorded one new coronavirus cases today, this one on Oahu, for another day of single or zero cases that have spurred reopenings across the state.

The state health department now reports the number of recorded cases at 653; deaths remain at 17. The case count for Oahu is at 422, Maui County at 120, Hawaii Island at 81 and Kauai at 20. There are 10 cases diagnosed out of state. Some 609 people have been released from isolation.

Hawaii's coronavirus case count jumped today to 258, according to the state health department's latest update. The number of positive and presumptive positive cases represents an increase of 34 from yesterday. Oahu now has a total of 182 coronavirus cases, Maui 26, Kauai 12 and the Big Island 18.

The Hawaii Department of Health said a person who was diagnosed with coronavirus has died. The state is still investigating the case as other factors may have contributed to the person's death.
