According to the Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) statistics for the month of December, Hawaii saw a 75% decrease in visitors compared to the same month in 2019. Economist Carl Bonham, the Executive Director of the University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization, has been using daily numbers from the HTA to calculate Hawaii's currect economic forecast.

New bill aim to discourage theft of catalytic converters
Thefts of catalytic converters have surged across the country since the start of the pandemic. Representative Jackson Sayama has proposed a house bill that hopes to curb this trend. The bill would make theft of a converter a felony, and also hold recyclers accountable for who they buy the converters from.
