The Conversation: With Government Aid Flowing, Beware Of Fraud, Waste, Abuse

Today we throw the spotlight on fraud, waste and abuse. The state has launched a campaign urging the public to be on the alert during this time of free flowing government dollars. The money is supposed to help those most affected by this health and economic crisis, but is someone helping themselves to the funds or diverting the aid where it should not go? We look at the state ethics laws that may apply and talk about what to do if you suspect wrongdoing. Will you be protected for speaking up if you flag a problem?

Our guests today:

  • Clare Connors, State of Hawaii Attorney General
  • Dan Gluck, executive director, Hawaii State Ethics Commission
  • Hui Chen, Chief Integrity Adviser, State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General

Click here for examples of fraud, waste and abuse, and how to contact the State of Hawaii Department of Attorney General and Hawaii State Ethics Commission. Click hereto file a complaint, or call (808) 587-0000 or email anti-fraud@hawaii.gov.

We want to hear from you. Send us your feedback:
