The concern about the community spread of COVID-19 is growing. Health officials are working with Hale Nani Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, the state's largest elderly care facilities to try and contain an outbreak of more than a dozen cases among staff and patients.
It is also monitoring the situation of other cases at other smaller care facilities to prevent the spread among the most vulnerable population. Do you know someone in a nursing home or smaller care home and are worried about their well being? Are you wondering where the safest place for them would be?
Our guests discussing nursing homes and senior care:
- John McDermott, Long-Term Care Ombudsman, State of Hawaii, Department of Health, Executive Office of Aging;
- Suzie Schulberg, President and CEO, The Arcadia Family of Companies;
- and Hilton Rathel, President and CEO, the Healthcare Association of Hawaii.
