Update of Emergency Work in Maui River: Elle Cochran
Emergency repair work to Maui’s Iao Valley parks following last month’s flooding is causing consternation for an environmental group. Swinging withBig Bad Voodoo Daddy
There’s a reason, swing era music will never die: it’s irresistibly danceable, geared toward creating a rhythmic pulse that all but drags people onto the dance floor. It also dates from a time when musicians were expected to be entertainers, reaching out to the audience with clever songs, witty patter, and good old showmanship. Kurt Sodergren plays drums and Andy Rowley plays baritone sax and sings in Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, a band that is very much at home in that tradition.

Lawsuit Filed on Behalf of Campbell Students: Bob McDermott
It has been a week since Representative Bob McDermott filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of students at Campbell High School. The school, like many in Hawaii is overcrowded - the cafeteria can only hold about 28% of the total student body. Rep McDermott has firsthand knowledge; two of his kids attend the school...which may explain why he was willing to apply legal pressure. 12 million dollars were appropriated by the state Department of Education to add to the infrastructure of Campbell High School. It hasn’t happened yet. So in this last week has there been any response from the state?
