Interim HART Leadership; Team India Polo; Succulent Kokedama Design .
Oahu residents have already been on a long journey with rail, but in recent months they seem to be reconciled to finishing the beleaguered project, even as confidence in leadership had substantially eroded. With yesterday’s resignation by HART CEO, Dan Grabauskas, a new leader takes over today, albeit temporarily, to bridge the project until a permanent CEO is hired. That task falls to Honolulu Director of Transportation Services and now former HART board member, Mike Formby.

Hawaii has become an international destination for the sports of kings, as polo players from around the world converge on O’ahu’s North Shore to take on local teams in an ideal setting. Vikram Singh Sodhi is one of those who have come a long way -- in his case from his native India to lead a team of his countrymen against Hawaii’s best. Hawaii Polo Club hosts two matches pitting Team India against Team Hawaii, the next two Sundays.

Kokedama, which translates as “moss ball,” is a technique derived from bonsai: a method, created in Japan, of enclosing plants in mud and moss, making a self-contained display that needs no other container. Leimomi Kenison is the Owner of Maui Succulent Designs in Makawao and will be holding a Succulent Kokedama Workshop on Saturday, August 27th from 8:30-10:00am at the Maui Swap meet.
