This week Aloha Untied way announced six new members to its Board of Directors to fill spots vacated by outgoing members.  For organizations led by a Board, finding the right people willing to serve can be a challenge. Recruitment veers into a list of expectations, responsibilities and tasks as prospective members want to know what they’ll need to do...and that’s just what leadership coach Richard Weylman says isn’t  as productive as starting with the one thing that’s often missing at the beginning of those conversations, and sometimes, missing altogether

John Hammond Jr. has had a pioneering career, spanning more than fifty years as an ambassador of blues, as a virtuoso guitarist and singer in the classic “country” blues style. Releasing a teen into independence is often one of the most frightening milestones of parenthood - and for kids, the new freedom can be as frightening and it is exhilarating. What comes after graduation these days isn’t always a direct path to college, and some educators, including former high school principal and college counselor, Karl Haigler, say there’s an even better option for kids who know they just aren’t ready for college. And that included his own son, Adam.
