This week Hawaii had a visit from the US Small Business Administration’s Administrator. Maria Contreras-Sweet. It had been 10 years since an SBA administrator had been in our state and during her time here, some of Hawaii’s Congressional delegation held meetings with the small business community. That included Congressman Mark Takai who hosted a talk story. He joined The Conversation with notes on what the small business community had to say to the Administrator.

A one-man show is always a challenge for a theatrical performer - a challenge that is redoubled when the subject is a well-known historical figure.   That didn’t stop playwright and actor Moses Goods from taking on the beloved memory of Duke Kahanamoku, the Olympic athlete and surf icon whose fame and influence extended well beyond the world of sport.   Tonight is the world premiere of Duke, a one-man show in which Moses portrays Kahanamoku and more than a dozen characters from his life.  The play premieres tonight at 7 p.m. at Tenney Theatre on the grounds of The Cathedral of St. Andrew, and continues on Saturdays, October 17th, 24th, 31st and November 7th at 4:30 p.m.
