UH Policy on Sexual Assault: Jennifer Rose
Over two years ago, how UH Manoa handled sexual assault on campus got the school on the list of 85 universities under federal investigation. The schools came under review by the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights under Title IX of gender equity law. This week, UH Manoa released its system-wide Interim Policy and Procedure on Sex Discrimination and Gender-Based Violence. Although the policy brings the university into compliance, the school says it continues to meet with stakeholders. Jennifer Rose is the UH Director of Office of Institutional Equity and she joined the show with a look at where the policy goes from here.

UH Guitar Concerts: Ian O’Sullivan
Ian O’ Sullivan’s career as a classical and slack-key guitarist, and the years of study that preceded it, have brought him into contact with a worldwide community of like-minded young musicians who are stretching the boundaries of what a solo guitar performance can be. His fall series of guitar concerts at the University of Hawaii is about to begin, and he joined us, guitar in hand, for a preview. UH Music Department Guitar Series concerts begin Saturday, September 12th with a concert by slack-key master LT Smooth. It’s at Orvis Auditorium on the UH Mano’a Campus.

Council of Revenues Meeting: Carl Bonham
The Council on Revenues met yesterday to review general fund data. In making its projections for the rest of this fiscal year, the Council’s outlook is pretty good with a little more money than expected. That’s an increase of 6 percent or roughly 180 million dollars. Through 2018, that projection drops to 5.5 percent and then from 2020 to 2022, 4.5 percent. To go behind those numbers with the reasons why, Council on Revenues member and University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization Executive Director Carl Bonham joined the show with the back story.

Laurie Seroldi is the site manager for the Hali’imaile Community Garden, which has been running on volunteer energy for going on a decade now.
