TAG’s Raisin in the Sun Casting Call: Brad Powell
A Raisin in the Sun is a play that made Broadway history when it premiered in 1959. The play was the first by a black woman, the first with a black director, and was very much a product of its time. But the world it portrays isn’t all that different from today, and the play deserves a new interpretation and a contemporary audience. Brad Powell is directing a production of Lorraine Hansberry’s American classic and he’s now in the casting stage - so an opportunity is out there for Hawaii actors.

Women’s Equality Wallet Hub Study: Jill Gonzalez
Today is Women’s Equality Day. It marks the day in 1920 when the 19th amendment was certified, giving American women the right to vote. Today, women around the country are getting an assessment of their equality within each state via a new WalletHub study. It measures three key areas: workplace environment, education, and political empowerment. The results for Hawaii look good and WalletHub spokesperson Jill Gonsalez joined the show to tell us just how good.

Hawai‘i: Change & Continuity: Tom Klobe
Hawaii is a place where we live with change as we hope for continuity. Most of us can accept the inevitable transformation of life in these islands, but not without wanting to keep hold of the past and what it has given us. Change and continuity are the themes of the 50th anniversary exhibition from the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. Tom Klobe is the curator, and he joined us in our studios. The exhibition Hawai‘i: Change & Continuity, opens on Sept. 4th, 2015 at the Hawai’i State Art Museum.
