HB553, Graduate Student Collective Bargaining Bill: Jonathan Dial
When there's a job to be done and little money to do it, maybe even you have said, "Get a grad student." Long the butt of jokes about cheap labor, UH grad students sought to do something about their UH employment. Months ago, the Legislature passed a bill giving graduate student assistants the ability to unionize but last week, Gov. Ige put it on his possible veto list. That put the UH Graduate Student Organization into action. Jonathan Dial is its president and he joined the show via phone to comment.

Animated Film “Boxcar Children”: Dan Chuba

Turning the Next Step Shelter Into a Family-Only Facility: Lambert Lum
The growing number of homeless people in Kaka’ako includes a number of families, but even if the city’s Sand Island camp proposal moves forward, kids aren't part of the plan. One place where families are welcome is the Next Step Shelter and some have suggested that it might best serve families only. Lambert Lum is the Director of Shelter Services at Waikiki Health’s Next Step Shelter in Kaka‘ako and he joined the show to discuss the future of Next Step.

100 Men Who Care Maui: Keith Regan
People who want to make a difference in their communities don’t always know how best to channel their energies or how to allocate their resources where they will do the most good. It’s an issue that Keith Regan of Wailuku has given some thought, and his answer is the formation of a “100 Men Who Care” group on Maui. Its inaugural meeting is tonight, though it’s part of a larger worldwide movement. Keith Regan joined the show to tell us more.
