Red Hill Fuel Tank: Ernest Lau
Agreements often have their skeptics. One such agreement might be the recently announced deal by the EPA and the Hawaii Department of Health with the Navy to retrofit the fuel storage tanks at Red Hill. The plan includes a two year feasibility study for what likely will be a costly fix. The Navy will then need to do the work over 20 years or move the fuel storage facility elsewhere. Meanwhile the Board of Water Supply is urging vigilance. The Board's manager and chief engineer, Ernest Lau joined the show to look at why.

There’s a body of collective knowledge to be drawn upon here, and an upcoming symposium will bring it all together under one roof. David Ulrich is a coordinator of f.808 photo Hawaii, a day-long symposium taking place the weekend after next.

Does Anyone Care About Resolutions?: Mel Rapozo
Two weeks ago they thought it was a slam dunk. Unable to reach consensus, the Kauai County Council deferred a resolution to ask Hawaii's Congressional delegation to challenge the Citizen’s United decision. Tomorrow, the Council will again take up the discussion. Whatever happens with the draft of Resolution 2015-44, there’s still the question of whether all the time, energy, and conversation being expended on a resolution is worth it. Resolutions are usually expressions of opinion or calls for action but aren't compulsory. Mel Rapozo is the Chair of the Kaua‘i County Council. He joined the show with his thoughts on resolutions.

UT Arlington Jazz Ensemble: Timothy Ishii
Jazz education is now firmly in place across the country and it has taken America’s native art form from the barroom to the classroom. Its intricacies are now passed along in an academic environment, and that has opened the doors to an expansion of the art, which is now worldwide. Tim Ishii is a band director for the University of Texas at Arlington and he’s in town to perform and exchange ideas with student jazz musicians.
