Proposed Wind Farm in Kahuku: Kent Fonoimoana

Drive out to Kahuku and you'll see wind turbines rising from the hills.  A dozen of them have  been in operation since 2011 and by the end of this year, there could be more of them. Santa Barbara based Champlin/GEI Wind Holdings expects to break ground on 10 additional units on the Na Pua Makani power project. That has many north shore residents angry that the plan was approved before the environmental impact statement was even available. The draft EIS is out today. Kent Fonoimoana, is the President of the Kahuku Community Association which doesn't want another wind farm. He joined the program to share his thoughts.

Same place, different plan. Last year's idea to triage the homeless at Sand Island is back and this time with temporary container housing added to the mix. Scott Morishige, Executive Director of advocacy group Phocused, doesn't like the Sand Island redux any better than the first plan.
