Local Volunteer Returns from Nepal Earthquake Mission: Michael Davidson
Michael Davidson served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years and deployed to Afghanistan and the Middle East during Operation Desert Storm. He's now the Alumni Manager for the Wounded Warrior Project. He's also the regional training officer for Team Rubicon, a non-profit disaster relief organization uniting experienced military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams. He recently returned from Nepal and joined the show via phone to tell us about his experiences.

The Forbidden Game - Golf and the Chinese Dream: Dan Washburn
The game of golf and the teachings of the late Chairman Mao -- the ideology that still prevails in today’s China -- just don’t mix. What could be more offensive to the idea of a workers’ state than the ultimate bourgeois indulgence of riding in carts as members of an exclusive and expensive club? In China it’s known as the rich man’s game and the construction of golf courses is forbidden. So why are there hundreds of them? These and other questions perplexed journalist Dan Washburn whose book The Forbidden Game: Golf and the Chinese Dream looks at that country from some unusual perspectives.

TMT Discussion: Annelle Amaral
Think back over the headlines you've seen about the 30 meter telescope project. Much of the controversy over the TMT project seems to be polarized: science versus religion, superstition or the sacred. From the outside, it looks like scientists and the University of Hawaii against the Hawaiian community. But that’s not the case with everyone, and clearly not the perspective of Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs President and former lawmaker, Annelle Amaral. We talked earlier and asked her why we're mostly getting points of view in stark contrast.
