But lobbying and big money influence have changed dramatically over the past fifteen years... and it looks as if conservatives may be doing a better job than liberals. Science Camps: Michael Richards
For generations, science was mostly taught in the classroom and as a result, who knows how many of us missed out on the excitement that comes from “doing” science instead of reading about it? Science has everything the creative mind could ask for if it’s taught effectively, and for Science Camps of America founder Michael Richards, that means taking it outdoors… specifically, on Hawaii Island. His first summer session will focus on volcanology, geology, and oceanography -- and what better place for it? He’s on the Big Island now, and he joined the show by phone.

3rd Christopher Deedy Trial: Ken Lawson
Last week came word that federal special agent Christopher Deedy will stand trial yet a third time for the shooting of Kollin Elderts. This time, the charge is manslaughter and that’s exactly why UH criminal law professor Ken Lawson says the third trial shouldn’t happen. The last time we talked, he thought it was unlikely that the Deedy would face a third trial, and yet here we are... Ken Lawson and sat down with us to talk it over.

34th Annual Maui District High School Band Festival: Casey Nagata
Casey Nagata is the band director at King Kekaulike High School. His band is part of the 34th Annual Maui District High School Band Festival Parade of Bands, featuring the 111th Army Band, H.P. Baldwin High School, King Kekaulike High School, Lahainaluna High School, Lana'i High & Elementary School, and Maui High School. There are performances tomorrow and Saturday.
