Homelessness Count, Breaking Down the Numbers: Colin Kippen
This week, the City and County of Honolulu found out that it had a greater issue with homelessness than perhaps it thought. The 2015 Point in Time Count for Oahu showed the number of chronically homeless singles had increased 19% and homeless vets showed a 21% increase. Neighbor island homeless population data is due next month. We looked behind the Oahu numbers with Hawaii's Homelessness Coordinator, Colin Kippen.

Climate Predictability Report: Axel Timmermann
Up until recently, most scientists believed they could only predict an El Nino condition three seasons in advance at best. This week, new research is creating a paradigm shift in El Niño predictability... up to three years in advance, along with a change in thinking about how it happens. The study is in Tueday's online issue of Nature Communications. UH Manoa Professor of Oceanography, Axel Timmermann, is the coauthor and joined the show to go over the report.
