Update on Medical Marijuana Bills: Rafael Kennedy
At the start of the legislative session, there was much hope among supporters of medical marijuana that this could be the year Hawaii finally got a dispensary system. They might get their wish if a bill heard by the finance committee today continues to advance. If dispensaries come into being as a result, it would be 15 years since the legislature made medical marijuana legal. The Drug Policy Forum is a longtime advocate and Executive Director Rafael Kennedy joined the show with an update on the bills.

Has America’s two-party system outlived its usefulness? Can its platforms be said to accurately represent the views of the voting public? More than half of voters today describe themselves as independent, yet we are seemingly locked into an arrangement that gives us only two viable choices at any given time. A.G. Roderick is the pseudonym for a Hawaii author whose new book “Two Tyrants” offers a harsh critique of the current system and suggests a way out of the electoral morass.
