HB1329 - Motor Raceway, 48-Minute Notice on Hearing: Larry Geller

Larry Geller

Does West Oahu need a motorsports complex funded by special purpose revenue bonds? According to the Paradise Ohana group, the answer is a resounding yes. But for Larry Geller, Editor of Disappeared News, there are other questions that are more important. One centers on the process to deliberate the issue. The timeline on the bill shows the hearing notice was released on the same day as the hearing itself, potentially locking out public input from the projects critics. And Larry Geller says the area in question would pave over history, although few seem to be talking about the loss of the Ewa Battlefield.

Shelly aka Miss Catwings

As soon as the sun goes down, Honolulu’s Chinatown becomes a film noir movie set… Figures come at you out of the shadows and the streets bring back memories of long-ago dirty deeds.   After all, this is where Chang Apana, the real-life model for Charlie Chan, plied his trade not that long ago. To this day there’s still a hint of menace in the air, when the light is just right… The setting is the inspiration for a new noir comedy set in Chinatown called “A Slice of Danger.” Miss Catwings is the co-author, and she joined the show this morning to tell us about it. A Slice of Danger opens Thursday and runs the next two weekends at the Arts at Mark’s Garage.
