Capitalism vs. The Climate: Naomi Klein
Naomi Klein is an award-winning journalist, author, and syndicated columnist. Her latest book is This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. The Climate. Her New York Times and #1 international bestseller, "The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism," has been published in over 30 languages. She is a contributing editor for Harper’s, a reporter for Rolling Stone, and writes a regular column for The Nation and The Guardian. She is also the Dai Ho Chun Distinguished Chair in Arts & Sciences at the University of Hawai'i at M?noa. Naomi Klein will speak next Thursday evening in the UH campus center ballroom.

Lunar New Year Music: Fred Lau
Frederick Lau is the Director of the Center for Chinese Studies and the Chair of the Ethnomusicology Department at the University of Hawai’I at Mano’a and Yi-Chieh Lai is a PhD candidate in ethnomusicology at UHM. They are two of the guest performers with the Chinese Music Virtuosi, who will perform Saturday and Sunday evenings at Orvis Auditorium on the University of Hawai’i campus.

Ashley Lukens is the Program Director for the Hawaii Center for Food Safety. Her work focuses on issues of human and environmental health as they relate to the food system. She is also a founding member and the former Vice President of the Hawaii Food Policy Council, and a member of the Sierra Club’s National Food Policy Task Force.

Matilda’s Waltz: David Penhallow Scott
David Penhallow Scott is the author of “Matilda’s Waltz” which opens tomorrow evening the Puhi Theatrical Warehouse in Lihu’e for three weekends. There is a Preview performance tonight and a reception with the director and actors after the Opening Night’s performance.
