According to some new research it's more likely now that you wouldn't be happy. Political polarization in the US continues to divide in deeper ways than we thought. Contributing Editor, Neal Milner, is back with a look at how this new research is reshaping our ongoing conversation about political polarization.

Mardi Gras Music: Larry Spalding
You can’t separate a Mardi Gras celebration from its music any more than you could take the music out of New Orleans. The Crescent City has been an international crossroads for centuries, and its music reflects that… African, Caribbean, and European influences combine in a sound no other city can duplicate. There’s a Mardi Gras Celebration coming to Honolulu, and Larry Spalding will be one of its many musical highlights.

Food Waste Bill, SB1227: Dr. Regina Ostergaard-Klem
Okay, so when you're cooking in your kitchen or cleaning up from dinner, what do you do with the scraps? Chances are they go right into your trash. But if a food waste bill being heard today eventually makes its way into law, you might have to change your habit. SB1227 would require separation of organic matter so it doesn't go either to a landfill or to H-power. Hawaii Pacific University professor Regina Ostergaard-Klem is the Graduate Chair for the Global Leadership & Sustainable Development Program and she joined The Conversation with a look at the potential implications of the bill.

King's Highway Book: Daniel Sullivan
There are only a few stretches of the King’s Road left in Hawai’i, but they’re enough to evoke memories of a time before Western contact when the islands were crisscrossed by a brilliantly engineered series of footpaths that opened up communication and trade. Photographer Daniel Sullivan made it his mission to travel and document the 220 miles of the King’s Highway that encircle Maui, and the results are out in a new book called the Maui Coast - Legacy of the King's Highway. It was quite a journey, and Daniel joined the show to tell us about it.
