DLNR Nomination/Proposal To Eliminate LUC: Marti Townsend
Yesterday, over twenty environmental groups sent a message to the Governor. They'd like him to withdraw his nomination of Castle & Cooke lobbyist Carleton Ching to lead the Department of Land and Natural Resources. They also want him to forget any plan that would weaken or outright eliminate the Land Use Commission. Marti Townsend heads The Outdoor Circle, one of the organizations that made the complaint, and she joined the show via phone.

Vivo’s music is hard to categorize, and that’s just the way they like it. It’s jazz with an island flavor and a gypsy feel played by musicians with a strong classical background. Ivory Trade: Dr. Kathleen Gobush
Dr. Kathleen Gobush is Vulcan Philanthropy’s Wildlife Program Lead and Senior Project Developer. For the latest 18 years, she has worked toward the protection and recovery of endangered species across the globe. Her doctoral research found her living among elephants in one of the most heavily poached areas of Africa. And she once lived in Hawaii as a Research Ecologist and Lead of the Hawaiian Monk Seal Survival Enhancement Program for NOAA's Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center.

Robert Burns Birthday: Dave Walker
Few writers ever have cast as long a shadow as Robert Burns, the national poet of Scotland… His birthday was Sunday, and Scots all over the world make it into a joyous celebration of their history. Burns left a great literary legacy, and it’s too bad most of us only remember him from “Auld Lang Syne…” but Dave Walker, who is organizing this Saturday’s Burns Supper 2015, is on the line to rectify that.
