It’s going to be an uphill battle and some parts of his proposal are unclear, but just floating the idea may be important. Why? Peace On Your Wings: Jenny Taira
Jenny Taira is the co-author of “Peace On Your Wings,” an original musical play inspired by the life of Sadako Sasaki. It will be performed Sunday afternoon in Lihue, Kauai at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center.

Paid Family Leave: Cathy Betts
If you had to be away from your job to care for a newborn or an elderly family member, would you be assured that your job would be waiting for you when you return? For many Americans the answer might be no. The Family and Medical Leave Act leaves out 40 percent of the workforce and guarantees only unpaid leave. Only a few states have programs to provide paid leave. Those include California, which pioneered the program in 2002. With only 11 percent of U.S. workers with access to paid family leave through their employers, a number of other states are also considering similar plans. Cathy Betts would like Hawaii to join the list. She is the Executive Director of the Hawaii State Commission on the Status of Women and she joined us in our studios.
