Richard Hornik is a visiting lecturer in the School of Communications at the University of Hawaii. He is on leave from Stony Brook University School of Journalism where he is responsible for international outreach. He is a journalist with over 30 years of global experience, was the executive editor of AsiaWeek, deputy chief of correspondents and news service director of Time in New York, and was Time’s bureau chief in Warsaw, Boston, Beijing and Hong Kong.

Scott Morishige is the Executive Director of PHOCUSED. The nonprofit, nonpartisan organization works to increase the safety, visibility and investment in programs for marginalized, impoverished, and under-served children and adults. On Friday, PHOCUSED and member organizations Catholic Charities Hawaii and Hawaii Appleseed Center for Law & Economic Justice will be convening a Social Advocacy Forum, where they hope to hear from members and community partners about their legislative priorities.

Robert Pollock is a pianist and composer and the founder of Ebb and Flow Arts. The Ebb and Flow Ensemble will perform Sunday, January 18th at 5pm at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center’s McCoy Studio Theater. There’s a discussion session with the musicians before the concert.
