UHERO Asia-Pacific Forecast: Byron Ganges
This morning the UH Economic Research Organization released its annual US Asia-Pacific Forecast. One of the points it considers is whether or not we’re in a low growth world. Aside from the bright spot offered by the US economy, Europe, Asia, and the countries down under are looking if not grim, laden with risk. Byron Gangnes, Senior Research Fellow at the University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization, joined The Conversation to talk specifics.

Thelonious Monk - composer, pianist, and bandleader - was treated like an exotic curiosity throughout much of his long career, even as his music was making its way into the mainstream of the American music repertoire. HEI Sale to NextEra: Henry Curtis
This week Hawaiian Electric Industries announced its plan to sell to Florida-based NextEra Energy - and spin off one if its subsidiaries, American Savings Bank. The state is promising its own due diligence to make sure the deal is in the public interest. If it is approved, what could it mean for consumers? Many are considering that idea, including Life of the Land Executive Director, Henry Curtis. He frequently writes about energy policy and he joined the show in studio.

Waipa Foundation Kalo Festival: Stacy Sproat-Beck

Stacy Sproat-Beck is the Executive Director of the Waipa Foundation, which is celebrating all things Kalo at a festival this weekend. 5th Annual Kalo Festival is this Sunday, December 7th from 11 am to 5 pm at the Foundation’s Halulu Fishpond in Hanalei, Kauai.
