All month long, Hawaii’s fashion designers are in the spotlight as earlier this year November was designated Hawaii Fashion Month. But for one company, it has always been fashion month. Over the last 50 years, Jams World has grown from a tiny homegrown surf wear producer to a global company. Mark Tsuda is Jams World CEO and for today, Jams World Day, he joined us in studio for a look at the history of the bussiness.

Food Irradiation Research: Sarah Abdul-Ghani
What does irradiation really do to our food? That question is being asked 50 years after the Food and Drug Administration approved the process, which uses radiation to prolong the shelf life of food and get rid of toxins. Sarah Abdul-Ghani is an 8th grader at Mid-Pacific who looked at the ways irradiation changes the molecular structure of strawberries, and she joined us this morning in studio to talk about her research.

Tackling Hawaii's Housing Crisis: Drew Astolfi
This week, state lawmakers heard from homelessness and affordable housing agencies. The stunning statistic they were told is that Hawaii will need 50,000 units to meet 2016 affordable housing needs. In 2006, that number had been 28,000 units but regardless… at that level, or the current number, Hawaii will not be able to build its way out of the crisis. So what happens now? Drew Astolfi is the Executive Director of Faith Action for Community Equity and he joined us in studio to provide an answer.

Mo'olelo Storytelling Festival: Jack Dalton
Jack Dalton is an Alaskan native storyteller who will present “The Story Before History” tonight at 7 p.m. at the Honolulu Museum of Art’s Doris Duke Theatre. It’s part of the inaugural Mo'olelo Storytelling Festival, `Au I Ke Kai (Crossing the Distant Seas), held in conjunction with the Museum’s ‘Oiwi Film Festival.
