Darryl Oliveira

The people of Puna may be wondering: why us? A tropical storm, election  issues, and now lava moving through a forest possibly threatening the community of Kaohe. The flow is moving at a few hundred feet a day. The Hawaii Volcano Observatory and Hawaii County Civil Defense continue to hold community meetings to share updates on the flows movement. Earlier this morning Darryl Oliveira, Director of Hawaii County's Civil Defense, gave us an assessment of the situation. I asked him what the team has learned since yesterday.
