Lesley-Anne Knight is the Chief Executive Officer of The Elders, an independent group of global leaders who work together for peace and human rights. Three of The Elders, Gro Harlem Brundtland, Ms. Hina Jilani and Archbishop Desmond Tutu are coming to Hawaii to exchange ideas on peace and ethical leadership with the people of Hawaii in a series of Pillars of Peace Hawaii events August 29-31.

2014 Hawaii’s Woodshow: Andy Cole
If you’re a woodwoorker, or just appreciate the natural beauty of wood, the 22nd annual exhibition of what skilled woodworkers can do is an event you shouldn’t miss. Hawaii’s Woodshow runs two weeks starting on the 31st at the Honolulu Museum of Art School at Linekona. Andy Cole is an award-winning wood turner and coordinator of the 22nd Annual Hawaii’s Woodshow, and he joined the show to tell us more.

Puna Lava Update: Chief Darryl Oliveira
The people of Puna may be wondering: why us? A tropical storm, election issues, and now lava moving through a forest possibly threatening the community of Kaohe. The flow is moving at a few hundred feet a day. The Hawaii Volcano Observatory and Hawaii County Civil Defense continue to hold community meetings to share updates on the flows movement. Earlier this morning Darryl Oliveira, Director of Hawaii County's Civil Defense, gave us an assessment of the situation. I asked him what the team has learned since yesterday.

Home of the Brave Tours and Brewseum: Duke Tomlinson
Duke Tomlinson, Director of Sales and Marketing for Home of the Brave Tours, began working with the company as a tour guide in his junior year of high school. He went to Colorado State University and created a business proposal to expand the family tour business into a microbrewery for the military, and eventually the Brewseum in Kaka’ako. Duke Tomlinson joined the show to tell us more about Home of the Brave’s tours and Brewseum…. and even a little about the history of beer in Hawai‘i. The Home of the Brave Brewseum is located on Waimanu Street in Honolulu and is open from 5 - 10 on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 5 - 11 on Fridays and Saturdays.
