Dept of Health's New Food Safety Rating Program: Peter Oshiro
If you've ever had a case of food poisoning you know this: it's horrible. And knowing that most cases of food poisoning resolve themselves is a small comfort when you're dealing with the nasty symptoms. The Department of Health recently started a new food safety rating program for restaurants which uses green, yellow or red placards to give patrons a visual cue about the establishments ranking. Peter Oshiro is the Environmental Health Program Manager for the Sanitation Branch responsible for the program and he joined the show via phone.

Zentangle Workshop at Volcano Art Center: Lois Stokes
So many people want to make art but don’t, held back by barriers of self-doubt or a feeling that art is something that should only be created by a special few… and for that reason any new method that breaks down those barriers is always welcome. Zentangle is a way of making art that’s new to the islands, and is designed for people who want to unleash what lies within. Lois Stokes and her husband Earl will present a workshop called “Introduction to Zentangle,” tomorrow at the Volcano Art Center, and Lois joined the show via phone from her home in Volcano.

Central American Immigrant Minors: Clare Hanusz
Of the almost 60 thousand Central American minors who crossed the US southwest border illegally, 8 of them are now in Hawaii, flown here at taxpayer expense according to a report by Watchdo.org. The kids are with family or sponsors while their cases wait to be heard. Clare Hanusz is an immigration attorney and the Chair of the Hawaii chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She also worked with Central American refugees in Arizona before law school and she joined the show via phone with her thoughts on the matter.

Judge Arthur S.K. Fong Biography: Jerry Burris
You can learn so much about history from the people who made it – and if you’re lucky, you can draw upon their personal reminiscences along with archival material, to tell the story. Much of the story of Hawaii’s first fifty years as a state can be told through the life of Judge Arthur S.K. Fong, attorney general in the territory and state of Hawai'i, Circuit Court judge, and practicing attorney. Author Jerry Burris collaborated with Judge Fong on his biography, Judge Arthur S.K. Fong: Living A Life That Matters, and he joined the show to talk about both the book and its subject.
