Advocacy group, Common Cause Hawaii, was one of the lead organizations to campaign for the bill's passage. Executive Director Carmille Lim joined us by phone to discuss.

Medical Marijuana Dispensary Task Force: Peter Whiticar
In 2000, then-Governor Ben Cayetano signed a medical marijuana bill into law. 14 years later, Hawaii is still grappling with how it should create a system of statewide dispensaries. This week, the medical marijuana dispensary system task force met to begin a process many believe is long overdue. The group will make recommendations by late this year in advance of the 2015 legislative session. State Department of Health STD/HIV prevention branch director Peter Whiticar is a member of the task force and joined us this morning.

Manoa Valley Theater Auditions, The Addams Family: James Mares
If you’ve got a taste for performing and a sense of humor that may be just a little bit twisted, this one might be for you. Mano’a Valley Theater is casting for its fall production of the Addams Family, and that spells opportunity for the right performers. Acting, singing, and dancing skills are all necessary, and a sense of the macabre is highly recommended. Auditions are next week, so you still have time to prepare, and several juicy roles are up for grabs. James Mares is the show’s guest musical director, and he joined us this morning to tell us what MVT is looking for.
