SB2577: Naturopathic Physician Requirements: Dr. Sarah Strong
These days you can find a variety of medical choices to treat your ills as not everyone wants to see an MD. For those who choose a naturopath, a bill up for hearing today would ensure that the doc they select has had enough continuing medical education credits to keep their licenses current. So what could be wrong with that? Not much according to Dr. Sarah Strong except that the bill has split the naturopathic community. Dr. Strong joined us by phone from her office in Hilo.

Jimmy Borges Barbershop & Big Band
America is a country that gives music new life – styles that originated all over the world have taken root in the new land and been transformed as a result. Jazz is often cited as the “only” indigenous art form, but that’s hardly the case; there are dozens of others. One of them is the close-harmony vocal style known as barbershop, and jazz singer Jimmy Borges is bringing it to the fore next weekend in a concert that features a jazz big band as well as the Sounds of Aloha Chorus and Quartets. Jimmy’s on hand this morning to tell us more. The concert is next Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Hawaii Theater in downtown Honolulu.

SB2452: Breast Feeding/Jury Duty Bill: Janel Takasaki
In less than half an hour, the House health committee will hear a bill to exempt breasfeeding moms from jury duty while they’re on duty. The maximum period is one year. The state judiciary says the bill may have good intentions, but is unnecessary and opens the way for other exemptions that might undermine the importance of jury duty. Janel Takasaki disagrees. She’s the President of Breastfeeding Hawaii and is here now.

Kauai Makauwahi Cave Tour: Richard Segan
It’s not easy, in our crowded islands, to find places that time seems to have overlooked; the human imprint is everywhere. This makes Kauai’s Makauwahi Cave all the more remarkable, then. It's Hawaii`s largest limestone cave, the richest fossil site in the islands, and is surrounded by a wetland habitat with almost 100 species of native plants. It’s a window into what Hawaii was like 10-thousand years ago. Richard Segan offers tours at the Cave two days a week, and he’s with us by phone from the Garden Isle.
Intro Sounds: Spelunking in the Ganja by Masters of the Universe
