Brian Black is the Executive Director and sole employee of the Civil Beat Law Center for the Public Interest.  He served as the first National Center on Philanthropy and the Law Fellow at New York University, then a global law firm in New York before returning home ten years later to join the department of the Corporation Counsel for the City and County of Honolulu.

He chairs the Public Works and Sustainability Committee, which oversees roads, sewers, our water supply, waste disposal, and other basic infrastructure needs of the city, and is vice chair of the Transportation Committee.
