Driver’s License Exam Discrimination Lawsuit: Gavin Thornton
Gavin Thornton is the Deputy Director of the Hawaii Appleseed Center for Law & Economic Justice. The non-profit social justice organization advocates for low-income and marginalized people to get resources and fair treatment. He is one of the attorneys representing Faith Action for Community Equity--a faith-based community organization seeking to have the driver’s license test interpreted so people with limited-English proficiency can get a license.
Brady Evans is the curator of “Crossing Cultures: the Art of Manga in Hawaii” at Windward Community College’s Gallery ‘Iolani. The show runs until October 2nd.
“Investing in What Works for America’s Communities”: David Erickson
David Erickson is the manager of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Center for Community Development Investment. He'll share his perspective from the bank’s recent book, Investing in What Works for America’s Communities at the Hawaii Alliance of Nonprofits Organization conference on October 8.
John Pizzarelli will perform on Maui tomorrow night at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center and Saturday night at the Hawaii Theater, with his quartet, in tandem with Hawaii’s own Hot Club of Hulaville.
