The Conversation: Raising the Glass Ceiling for Female Economists

Needpix

Our show today brings a number of female economists to the table to talk about the economy - but specifically: why aren’t more women in this field? What’s in the way of breaking up the “boys club?” We also acknowledge the women who are paving the way forward.

Our guests today:

  • Dr. Denise Konan is Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Professor of Economics at the University of Hawai'i at M?noa. She served as the interim chancellor of UH Manoa and department chair. Konan’s background is in international trade. Her interests include regional economic integration, trade in services, intellectual property rights, foreign direct investment and energy.

  • Dr. Teresa Molina is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at UH  Manoa. She has a BA in Economics from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Southern California. Her research primarily focuses on health and education in developing countries.
