Governor David Ige announced major changes in the stewardship of Mauna Kea on the Big Island, including decommissioning 25% of the telescopes by the time the TMT becomes operational.

25% of the telescopes atop Mauna Kea may come down in the next decade. That’s part of the policy change Governor Ige outlined earlier this week on the future management of the mountain. HPR’s Molly Solomon has more on how this will impact the astronomy community.
