Rebecca Like wins primary election for Kauaʻi prosecuting attorney

Rebecca Like campaign for Kauaʻi prosecuting attorney

Rebecca Like overwhelmingly defeated her opponent Shaylene Iseri in the special primary election for Kauaʻi prosecuting attorney. The last day to vote was Saturday, Dec. 18.

Like is the acting prosecutor and received nearly 70% of the vote. Iseri is a lawyer and had two previous stints as Kauaʻi’s prosecutor.

The County of Kauaʻi Elections Office reported a 26% voter turnout for the special primary election. Most ballots were mailed-in.

Out of more than 12,000 total votes, only 66 were in-person.

Despite only having two candidates in the primary election, Iseri and Like will face off again in a special general election on Feb. 26.

Justin Kollar stepped down as county prosecutor earlier this year — resulting in a special election to determine his replacement.
