Former State Senator Jill Tokuda seeking to be Hawaiʻi’s next lieutenant governor

Tokuda for Lieutenant Governor Campaign 2018

Former State Senator Jill Tokuda has thrown her hat into the ring to be Hawaiʻi’s next lieutenant governor.

Tokuda represented the 24th District in the Hawaiʻi Senate from 2006 to 2018, which encompasses parts of Kailua and Kaneohe.

Tokuda chose to run for lieutenant governor in the 2018 Democratic primary but lost to current Lt. Gov. Josh Green.

Gov. David Ige is term-limited in next year’s gubernatorial election, and Green is running for that office.

Former First Lady Vicky Cayetano and former Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell have also said they are running for governor.
