Daniel Ramirez
FILE -- H-1 Freeway heading to town

O?ahu motorists should expect traffic delays Sunday morning heading west from Hawai?i Kai to Wai?anae.

Supporters of the protests against building of the Thirty Meter Telescope are organizing a cross-island convoy. Organizers expect several hundred motorists.

Honolulu police officers will escort the motorcade from Maunalua beginning at 9 a.m. traveling to M??ili by around noon.

They will start out on Kalanianaole Highway, then travel on the H-1 Freeway and Farrington Highway. On-ramps to the H-1 will be closed while the convoy is underway.

Convoy organizers are asking participants to arrive at Maunalua Bay by 8 a.m. for a briefing on the event’s kapu aloha or nonviolence code of conduct.
