Helping Hand - September 26, 2014 - full interview with The Arc in Hawai'i

Helping Hand is a weekly feature on HPR1 stations statewide each Friday here at 5:30, and online here, putting the spotlight on an organization or event in the community that offers assistance to the disabled and other folks in need. This week All Things Considered local host Dave Lawrence speaks with The Arc in Hawai'i. It is a privilege to help get the word out on their mission and support their efforts with our guests Executive Director of The Arc in Hawai‘i, Lei Fountain and Ku‘uipo Kumukahi, Community Outreach Manager.

The Arc in Hawai'i is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded in 1954 by a group of parents of children with intellectual disabilities. As the state chapter of The Arc of the United States, The Arc in Hawai'i is part of the largest national organization devoted solely to working on behalf of people with intellectual disabilities.
