Each Friday afternoon, Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization or event in the community that offers assistance to the disabled and other folks in need with All Things Considered local host Dave Lawrence. This week we’re learning about Hawai`i Meals on Wheels with our guest Executive Director Claire Shimabukuro.
Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels is a private, not-for-profit 501c(3) organization. According to their website, they provide a home delivery meal service for frail elderly and disabled persons who were unable to cook or shop for themselves. Nationwide there are many different Meals on Wheels programs.
