West Hawaii Dance Theatre proudly presents The Adventures of Ka’i Ballet one performance only at the Kahilu Theatre on Sunday, May 29, 2022 4:00pm. The Adventures of Ka’i Ballet is a whimsical story ballet based on the odyssey of a boy lost on Hawaii Island, supported by his native endemic friends. Choreography is by Timour Bourtasenkov, story by Jill Brady, costumes by Susan Krall and narrated by Susie Krall. Dancers are West Hawaii Dance Theatre & Academy’s dance ohana ages 3 through adult. Special Guest Professional Nick Hagelin will join the cast with his first appearance with WHDT. Nick is best known for finishing Top 9 on NBC’s The Voice, playing Max on the #1 Netflix show Sweet Magnolias, and more recently as a social media influencer with over 15 million views on his ballet-related videos on TikTok.  With “Acte d’Ouverture” , a preview to “Adventures of Ka’i Ballet,” audiences will delight in several pieces, including the 1845 famous Classical Ballet “Pas de Quatre. This quintessential “ballerina ballet “ originally featured legendary Marie Taglioni in the lead. Featured are WHDT’s performance group coached by Artistic Director Virginia Holte and instructor Jenna Ojeda. Alana Heuer- Salazar has created two beautiful original contemporary ballet pieces, and Assistant Director Midori Satoh’s tiniest dance performers are always a crowd pleaser that steal the show.
