Vespers on the Lanai is so pleased to welcome back Martin and Kline: the exciting musical partnership of long-time musicians Greg Martin and Lesley Kline. These seasoned performers joined forces to blend their mastery of multiple genres into an exhilarating melting pot of music.

Lesley Kline has been playing old kine country, bluegrass, Irish, rock, funk and freestyle improv in Honolulu since 2002. She was a founding member of Saloon Pilots, Doolin Rakes, Organix, and Roxotica, here on Oahu. Born in Oklahoma, raised in Cambridge, MA., she was classically trained before moving into other genres of music. She is very pleased to be teamed up with Greg Martin, creating a blend with the local style, a splash of Nashville by way of Appalachia, as well as new spins on pop songs and beyond.

Greg Martin grew up in Kailua where he began playing ukulele and guitar in his teens. Influenced by Hawaiian, contemporary Hawaiian, and Hapa Haole, he performed in Polynesian shows in Japan, as well as local island and Top 40 bands, later enjoying performing with Ernie Cruz Sr. on Big Island and Oahu. Greg is enjoying sharing the stage with Lesley Kline, which is opening his mind to country, bluegrass and Irish traditions, along with the fun of collaborating on Hapa Haole tunes, Oldies, and other local favorites.

*We hope to be outside on the lanai/lawn, weather pending. So if it's been a dry day, please bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket for outdoor seating. If the weather isn't cooperative, then we'll be inside the sanctuary (where chairs are provided). Picnics/beverages welcome, masks optional.

Vespers on the Lanai is a casual event combining great music with an opportunity for spiritual reflection; this FREE, family-friendly, music series happens the 2nd Friday of certain months. Featuring a different musical genre at each event, interspersed briefly with poetry and contemplative readings, we’ll think broadly together and folks of all faiths (or no faith in particular) and all ages should feel welcome.
