Vespers on the Lānai: Honolulu Brass Quintet
Vespers on the Lānai: Honolulu Brass Quintet
It's Oktoberfest time and we're bringing in the big brass to celebrate! Join us for our first, co-sponsorship performance with one of Chamber Music Hawai'i's resident professional ensembles, the Honolulu Brass Quintet featuring T.J. Ricer (Tuba), Gabe Cruz (Trombone), JoAnn Lamolino (Trumpet), Anna Lenhart (Horn), Casey Tamanaha (Trumpet).
They'll be coming to us fresh from performing their "Beer, Brats & Beethoven" show at Blue Note Hawai'i the night before, so will be warmed up and ready to have some fun with us on the lānai. As Chamber Music Hawai'i (CMH) says, "Grab your lederhosen and join us for an evening of polkas, singalongs and more, including “Ein Prosit” and “Beer Barrel Polka.” This Beethoven inspired Oktoberfest will include the composer’s greatest hits arranged for Brass Quintet."
Join us in person or online from 7-8pm. We hope to be outside on the lawn, weather permitting, so please bring a lawn chair/blanket. Beers, bratwurst, or other picnic fare are all welcome! No pets, please.
Vespers on the Lānai is a casual event combining great music with an opportunity for spiritual reflection; this FREE, family-friendly, music series happens the 2nd Friday of certain months. Featuring a different musical genre at each event, interspersed briefly with poetry and contemplative readings, we’ll think broadly together and folks of all faiths (or no faith in particular) and all ages should feel welcome.
