Please join us for a morning of sharing and networking at the Urban Garden Center from 9 - 10:30 am as we discuss fruit fly pests in Hawaii. Dr. Roshan Manandhar will present online about fruit flies in Hawaii, followed by a hands-on session, and walk through the orchard.

• Learn about the types of fruit flies present in Hawaii.

• Understand which fruit and vegetable crops are targeted by various types of fruit fly.

• Make your own fruit fly trap to take home and protect your own crops. Please bring an empty 2-liter soda bottle. Methyl eugenol fruit fly lure will be available for purchase ($2 per pkg).

• Take a walk in the fruit orchard to see the fruit fly management at the Urban Garden Center. Participants must be able to walk about a half mile total on uneven terrain through the orchard. Those that cannot walk the terrain may stay at the outdoor classroom for this portion.

Space and supplies will be limited. Registration is required via Eventbrite. Wear field attire including shoes, bring water, and prepare for rain or shine. Free seeds donated by Foodland Market.
