Talk Story: Hawaiian History with Boyd Bond - 50 Years After The Close Of Kohala Sugar
Come listen to local historian Boyd Bond talk about the closing of Kohala Sugar 50 years ago.
“Kohala Sugar had a modest beginning back in 1863, and as the industry grew in the islands and in Kohala, many families arrived from different lands and became part of the 112 year history that ended in October of 1975. This change was foundational to this community, and on Monday evening we will trace the path of what happens next, taking a look back from today and examining what was kept and what was left behind, and then gaze ahead a little bit at what lies ahead.”
