DESCRIPTION: Witness the mana of Hawaiʻi’s native forests awaken with the magic of Symphony of the Hawaiʻi Forests presented by the Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra. Through a captivating blend of animation, music, narration and hula, this family-friendly adventure will unveil the interconnectedness between all living things and inspire a deep appreciation for our life-giving ʻāina.
Under the direction of maestro Dane Lam and guided by the enchanting narration of singer and Oʻahu native Starr Kalahiki, you’ll be transported through six mesmerizing pieces:
1) Kāwili: Animated by Elyse Chai, with music composed by Michael-Thomas Foumai.
2) Kāmau: Animated by Kalilinoe Detwiler, featuring music by Tonia Ko.
3) Ka Wai Ke Kumu Ola: Animated by Laura Margulies, featuring music by Takuma Itoh.
4) Kāpili: Animated by Chesley Cannon, with ao kuewa by Leilehua Lanzilotti.
5) Kāhuli: Animated by Mirren Hollison, featuring music by Herb Mahelona.
6) Hoʻāla: Showcasing artwork from the Student Art Contest and accompanied by music composed by Justin Park.
