Tony Lu is giving a free piano concert of original solo piano transcriptions of orchestral and chamber music. Composers include Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Franck, Brahms, Poulenc, Piazzola, Saparov, Chugunov, and Bu.

Born in Wuhan, China in 1997, Tony Lu started learning and playing the piano at age 5. Due to his visual impairment, he has always learned music by ear. Tony began to study in the U.S. in 2013 and has performed with various chamber music groups and orchestras in both high school and college. Tony earned a B.A. from Bennington College with concentrations in mathematics, history, and piano performance. A teaching colleague of Robert Mondoy of SJV, Tony is well-known for his insightful and entertaining piano transcriptions of famous classical works and has a remarkable artistry in improvisation and jazz. He is a faculty member of Sonata International Piano Camp and Summer Sonatina International Piano Camp in Bennington, VT. His piano concert at St. John Vianney Church is on Wednesday, December 27 at 7 p.m., two days after Christmas day.
