West Hawai'i Mediation Center believes that we all play a role in building a culture of peace in West Hawaii community. We believe that the work of peace is more than decreasing violence or resolving individual conflicts (as important as those are). Peacebuilding is also about building a healthy community that increases justice, strengthens community relationships, and implements positive change.

Peacebuilders imagine and respond to the ups and downs of the challenges we face and see opportunities to change for the better. And they are all around us, working in education or healthcare, our government or court systems, alongside our youth or in sustainable agriculture, economic development, or affordable housing. Peacebuilders help connect us, make our community stronger, and more resilient.

Furthermore, peacebuilders work from a set of ingrained values: Integrity, Trust, Empathy, Compassion, Respect, and Empowerment (to name a few). Do you know someone who fits this description?
