A sharp mind, a brave soul, and a vivid imagination: With those, you can rewrite your destiny. Hawaii youth theatre company Ohana Arts presents "Matilda," the tale of a courageous young girl who uses her special abilities to change her story and help others find the strength to change theirs. Performances run July 22-24 at Kennedy Theatre as part of Ohana Arts 2022 Summer Festival and School, in partnership with the University of Hawaii at Manoa Department of Theatre & Dance. The Summer Festival provides a unique opportunity for students ages 6-18 to study with world-class faculty and guest artists from around the country in music, dance and drama through an intensive 6-week
program. "Matilda" will be directed by Jenni Barber, whose Broadway credits include "Wicked" and "Annie." Proceeds from this performance will help Ohana Arts continue to provide programming and training for youth in Hawaii who can develop important life skills through the performing arts and build confidence through the love and acceptance of their theater family.
