Jazz in the Forest: JP Thoma and the Jazztones : Miles Davis – September 13th – Tickets on Sale Now
The Volcano Art Center series: Jazz in the Forest continues September 13th with another tribute concert, this time featuring trumpet master Miles Davis in honor of the quarter century since his passing.
Mile’s Davis showed his influence early in New York city, performing with bebop great Charlie Parker, and his early recording, on “The Birth of the Cool”, which led the way to creative breakthroughs in each period of his development. The evening will feature music from each of his distinct styles, including Walkin’ With Miles; “Kind of Blue; - Porgy and Bess; - Sketches of Spain; Miles Smiles, Time After Time, and many more. Each chapter shows major changes of conception, as well as personnel.
JP and the Jazztones will provide the evening’s tour. The band will include Jean Pierre Thoma on sax, clarinet and flute, Greg Shirley on guitars and synthesizer, Shawn Leavey on acoustic and electric bass, and Owen Matsui on percussion.
